First Year Seminar and Global Civic Engagement
This course will focus on the traditional FYS issues/topics that students entering college encounter: The transition to college, courses and choosing a major, effective study habits, healthy lifestyles, interpersonal relationship and social groups, and career interests.
In addition, students in this section will explore and discuss a variety of Global Civic Engagement opportunities that exist in the United States and abroad. Being sensitive to and understanding the complexity and challenges in the world we live as well as addressing them through collaboration and commitment. We will explore the history of many of the agencies that continue to be committed to solving the problems faced in our world today and their impact on our society, and also looking at both individual and group strategies for dealing with these issues.
